Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate and oversee the daily construction operations required to build affordable homes in accordance with HFHDC goals and practices. This includes ensuring the safety of everyone on site, regardless of their status as a volunteer, contractor, employee or other, as well as meeting deadlines and budgets. Habitat works year-round throughout Dane County, offering consistent employment through all seasons.
What You’ll Do: As a Site Superintendent 2, you’ll be the go-to person on the build site—managing projects, ensuring safety, and keeping things running smoothly. You’ll work with volunteers, subcontractors, inspectors, AmeriCorps members, and HFHDC staff to bring high-quality, energy-efficient homes to life.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure HFHDC sites meet all safety & building regulations and work complies with company policies; communicate and enforce with volunteers, subcontractors and other personnel.
  • Oversee multiple simultaneous and/or complex construction projects to meet organizational targets.
  • Follow schedule created by construction manager; must be able to maintain 3-4 week look ahead. Must plan for maximum use of available skills and resources.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and assessments to identify potential issues, develop solutions, and ensure work is performed to meet industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors/vendors, Construction Manager, and HFHDC team members to update project progress, address concerns, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Serve as the primary contact for subcontractors, inspectors and vendors to coordinate work and meet scheduling milestones.
  • Effectively engage and supervise skilled and unskilled labor in all facets of home construction; play an active role in recruitment and retention of key construction volunteers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized worksite, including storage and trash receptacles; monitor erosion control and protect homeowner property from damage
