Full job description
Westring Construction LLC is looking for a friendly and experienced Estimator to join our remodeling and restoration team. In this role, you’ll meet with homeowners, put together clear and accurate project estimates, and help guide them from the first meeting through to a signed proposal. The Residential Estimator is responsible for managing the estimation phases of residential construction projects. This role involves detailed site assessment, product specification, cost calculation, and client interactions to ensure projects are accurately scoped and priced before construction begins.
We’re looking for someone who knows residential construction (especially older or historic homes) following Wisconsin Building Codes, cares about quality work, and enjoys helping people bring their ideas to life. If you’re good at building relationships, like meeting new people, and are confident with numbers and negotiation, we’d love to hear from you.

● Comprehensive understanding of residential building materials, construction methods, industry standards and UDC Building Code
● Familiarity with historic and period construction techniques (preferred)

● Ability to network and represent the company with professionalism and enthusiasm

In this role, you’ll meet with homeowners, put together clear and accurate project estimates, and help guide them from the first meeting through to a signed proposal. The Residential Estimator is responsible for managing the estimation phases of residential construction projects. This role involves detailed site assessment, product specification, cost calculation, and client interactions to ensure projects are accurately scoped and priced before construction begins.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimation Pipeline Management and Initial Review:
- Receive and prioritize signed estimation agreements.
- Track projects in the pipeline based on the order received.
- Periodically and regularly provide status updates for all customers in the estimation pipeline.
- Review project intent and summary, and meet with sales personnel to understand project scope, budget targets, and timelines.
- Arrange a site visit to conduct thorough site measurements.
- Receive and review project plans and scope documents for estimation purposes.
- Conduct plan reviews with the necessary stakeholders to finalize the scope before costing.
3. Site Visits and Discovery:
- Arrange and conduct site visits for discovery to identify structural concerns, hazardous materials, and other potential issues affecting cost.
- Conduct additional site visits with tradespeople (electricians, heating contractors, plumbers, etc.) to ensure thorough understanding of site conditions and to obtain accurate subcontractor bids.
- Obtain product specifications, cut sheets, and secure accurate, current pricing for all materials.
- Develop accurate and profitable estimates for remodeling and light commercial projects
- Estimate labor hours and enter subcontractor pricing/bids.
- Develop accurate preliminary budgets and ensure accurate cost estimation across all project elements.
- Identify all existing site conditions and provide solutions that affect the overall project cost.
- Meet with clients to review the final project scope, selections, and detailed budget.
- Obtain necessary signatures and approvals from clients on the final cost estimate.
- Conclude the estimation process.
- Turn over the finalized project scope and approved budget to the Production Manager for execution.
