What does a Lead Carpenter with Paul Davis do?
The Lead Carpenter supports the Company and Project Managers by performing carpentry, overseeing daily field production needs, and is responsible for establishing systems, resources, and procedures to reduce overall job cycle time, improve customer satisfaction, and increase profitability.
Serves:  Property Owners, Property Managers, Project Managers, Construction Technicians, Crew Leaders, Tradespeople, and Vendors

Role on the Team (Job Functions):
  • Consistently represent the values and culture of the Company
  • Communicate daily with Project Managers and alert them to any customer concerns or project delays
  • Supervise daily activities of Construction Technicians
  • Support risk management standards and documentation procedures
  • Ensure job site safety and prevent work-place accidents
  • Ensure overall job site cleanliness, professional appearance, expert workmanship, and polite communication by all parties
  • Perform First-Class carpentry work, complete punch-lists and prevent callbacks
  • Conduct job site inspections and attend client meetings as directed by the Project Manager
  • Maintain budgets for work orders completed by self and subcontractors 
  • Participate in initial project scheduling, maintain schedule updates, & inform subcontractors of schedule
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports, Compliance Tasks, and work order & time card approvals
  • Estimate and approve small Change Orders (up to $500.00)
  • Negotiate pricing with material vendors and expedite material and equipment purchase orders
  • Actively recruit, supervise, and develop tradespeople and material vendors
  • Receive progress payments and obtain certificates of satisfaction 
  • Pull building permits, ensure code compliance, and coordinate inspections
  • Facilitate credits for returnable building materials and donations for non-returnable items
  • Conduct post-job evaluations and estimate reviews with the Project Manager
  • Maintain inventory of carpentry workshop, tools, vehicles, trailers, and equipment
  • Seek guidance and take responsibility for enhancing existing carpentry skills, obtaining new product knowledge, and learning new installation techniques
  • Respond to unanticipated and emergency restoration production needs and participate in after hours “on-call” rotation
